# Why was Opal's MPSIMS thread removed?

The rest of us are also warned for bringing off-board drama to this one.
What gives with the special treatment?

I was the one who removed it.
I would have removed any thread that was about or stemmed from other board drama as it creates a highly potential chance of board wars.

I wasn’t a mod (yet) when I made that post, so no idea what you’d have expected me to do about it.
No, much like I wouldn’t have warned anyone else for bringing off-board drama here. I’d have taken the same action I did with this one.

I think you made an error, and you’re not interpreting the rules and customs of the board the same way as the other mods and members have been.

Yeah, I think any other mod would have locked the thread, not disappeared it, and given any other poster a warning. **Idle Thoughts** seems to be a different type of mod, and **Opal** seems to be untouchable.

i have to question the potential for a board war myself. the posters at the other places are all dopers or former dopers. i’ve seen many a thread referencing the snarkpit, giraffeboards, wherever, and they’re normally locked with a mod note or warning, not deleted altogether. why does opal get special treatment?

She’s not getting special treatment. We do sometimes warn people for bringing off-board issues to the SDMB, but mod notes are also given. ([Recent example here.](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=14556170&postcount=34)) I’m not going to recap the thread to explain why it was removed, but in addition to the off-board issue, it was personal stuff that didn’t need to be out in the open.
