The thing that bothers me is not that the mods can use their own judgment when punishing someone, even if there’s no specific rule. That makes sense. Rule systems that try to cover every eventuality always become overly complicated, and still don’t work any better than more general rules. (See U.S. law, for example.)
What bothers me is that there seem to be (a few) bright-line rules that you guys use that are not in the appropriate rules threads. Unless their enforcement requires us not know about them, I’d appreciate them all being put where we can see them.
The last two examples I can think of are “No posts that just have a link, even in MPSIMS” and, to quote Twickster, “[W]e don’t allow relationship threads where both people are members of the SDMB.” They’re good rules, but I think it’s remiss to expect people to follow them if you don’t make them obvious.
As for sex robots: If they were good, they wouldn’t have time to moderate. And if they weren’t, why would you want them at all?
