# Why was the site in "read-only mode" for 15 minutes just now?

It is my understanding that the SDMB is hosted on Discourse’s servers. So if Discourse does serious maintenance on their end, they might have to put us on read-only for a couple minutes.

( **Cecil\_Adams** was last seen in June 2023, but **Ed\_Zotti** and various Discourse employees have admin access.)
