# Why wasn't Picard a Brit?

Maybe I’m hypersentive to languages, but I usually find myself unconsciously aping the accent of any English-speaker I’m talking to after a few minutes. I was in a pub once with an Irish guy and he seemed to be quite pissed off initially, thinking I was making fun of the way he talked.
