And I must apologize, as, on a reread, that comes off more hostile than I intended. The point is that I hate the argument that “the world isn’t fair, so I don’t have to be, either.” It is always a rationalization, not an argument. I don’t know why people make it, as it flat out says, “I admit I screwed up.” How is that a defense against people who say you screwed up? And the other point is that this crap is getting under my skin, even though I said I would stay out of it. It even got me to bring up those warnings that still bug me to this day, when Og knows nothing will ever come from mentioning them. That said, I do not believe I broke any rules in my above psot. I think I successfully posted in anger without doing so. But I still think I went a bit overboard, and made it seem like I have a beef with **Dex** , when I absolutely do not. ---

Just noticed that in only 12 hours, [Quasimodem’s thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=620288)has received 5 moderator responses, including from this [elusive fellow](http://i54.tinypic.com/2hggvex.jpg), who was only affiliated with the thread. Yet in a week, he (nor the other requested party) can’t take the time to explain two simple questions asked of him. ---

The people the question was put to have not answered, which has provoked the “increasingly shrill” demands. If it were me, I’d respond to the polite question _and_ the increasingly frustrated one. Especially if I were a mod and clearing up any potential confusion was part of my role. ---

I think you need a thick skin and a willingness to argue reasonably even when people get snarky to get your point across here, so it’s all good. But being able to admit a mistake is huge - I think some people see it as losing or something, but it’s not. It’s being right, as in correct, to say you’re wrong when you are - while at the same time time showing maturity and confidence - so it’s really a win. But it’s a win that small people will never understand. ---
