I think Irishman’s assessment is dead on.
Although I’m impacted by it in no way whatsoever, I find the modding here to be very poor, but I find the childish and inept responses by the moderators to the reactions to the poor modding to be absolutely stunning. Grow up. Making a modding mistake is really no big deal - but being unable to respond in an adult manner when someone points out that you’ve made a mistake is just sad.
Agreed. Remember, it’s not the crime, it’s the cover-up.

I think all of this could be solved if we could just call other posters “cunt” in the Pit. Too much unreleased tension with nowhere to go is preventing people from acting like grownups.

I think that the lack of a response from either mod is very telling.
In my experience, some mods are very forthcoming in either defending their position, or admitting a mistake. Some seem to think that sticking their heads in the sand, and presumably hoping that the whole thing will blow over, is a satisfactory course of action.
Again, in my experience, this rarely helps the situation.

Yeah, the answer to 2 is obviously that “Gas Grass or Ass - Nobody Rides For Free” bumper sticker he has on his Camaro.
This should be the forum in which mods give reasonable answers. If they can’t be “moderate” in their actions and explanations, then they should rein themselves in a little.
Although I don’t always agree with him, Irishman strikes me as being someone who would make an excellent moderator. He doesn’t bully and he is capable of seeing both sides before yielding judgment.
If others were not warned for the same thing, then the warning for anyone else should be withdrawn. You are supposed to be fair moderators, not policemen enforcing a law. And it is a BIG HAIRY DEAL when the indivisual says it is. Life isn’t always fair, but moderators are supposed to at least make an effort.

I usually stay out of this type of discussion, but I’d like to expand on this and point out that “life is unfair” doesn’t answer the OP’s second question because this isn’t about “life”. It’s about the deliberate actions of a person.
And related to the first question, the poster hadn’t broken the long-standing rules of the board OR the magical rules that Czarcasm pulled out of his ass for the occasion. He was in no way deserving of a warning.
