What was the name of that barely-accredited college (in OK/KN/NE?) which pretty much advertised itself as “1 step ahead of the Army”?
I want to say “Parsons College” was noted as a deferment mill (according to wiki, it folded in 1973 after reaching 5000 enrollment. Wiki also refers to it as “Flunk-Out-U”, but makes no mention of it’s roles as a draft avoidance technique.
Then there was the National Guard (W’s claim to military fame) - it rarely had openings, and the rich made sure one of those openings was reserved for their son.
Of course, parents outnumber the activists. EVERYBODY outnumbers the activists, MOL by definition. But, it’s the ‘propaganda’, that gets things changed in situations, and, the government doesn’t need the extra heat when there is drafting going on.
I agree with** Lemur866**. These are “plans” in the same way that kids in 8th grade make plans for their future. Once Congress actually dug into this matter, I think ultimately that the eligible draft ages would reflect the ages that congressmen’s children are NOT.
