Why would anyone buy a video?

I own videos(including DVDs for two reasons:

  • Some films I can watch over and over again and love them even more each time.

  • Some items I consider to be rare/innovative/obscure or likely to fade into obscurity - I siezed upon the opportunity to own them and although I may not watch them often, knowing that I can do so in the future at my option is a good thing.

OK, actually, three reasons; the two outlined above and:

  • I just bought them, thinking they were tremendous value, or would be better than they actually turned out to be.

Feh. My dad has almost 6,000 movies he’s taped or recorded on DVD. He has them cataloged and we “rent” them out whenever we feel like it. He has as good or better a selection than Blockbuster. There’s always something to watch.

For you, maybe, but not for me. There are a lot of movies that I can watch several times and enjoy as much, if not more, than the first time. It’s something that I enjoy doing regularly, so why not own the film?

Some people watch sports, some people play golf. Everyone has something that they spend their disposable income on. I spend it on movies. I have a large screen HDtv with a digital receiver, 14inch sub, etc… I don’t watch TV shows. My TV is for movies. It only makes sense to buy dvds for it.
