The OP makes it sound like “the Chinese” are acting as one big monolithic bloc. Out of 1.x billion Chinese citizens, two “firms” have a hankering for SAAB. Is that really surprising that there are two CEOs in China that love goofy little SAAB? ---

Perhaps it isn’t SAAB they want. Perhaps it is an automotive plant, engineers, and a retail and distribution network that they are after. It would be a bit easier maybe to introduce a brand new brand with some of the components already in place. You would have an experienced workforce and they could probably get all of the warehouses and production equipment for a fraction of the newly built price. Just a WAG.
