As we all know Thanksgiving is in a couple of days. I figure the Wii will be up and running all day. What I need is some pary type games. I figure my the inlaws and my Mom won’t want to play Zelda and Metriod, but Mom is already looking for foward to bowling. I already have Wii Play but I got that for the remote. Anyone have any experience with Mario Party? All suggestions welcome, I plan a trip to the store by 3pm PST Tuesday. Sorry for the rush. Thanks in advance. PS: We need to figure out a way to make Wii threads searchable. Wiiple is my suggestion. Anybody else? ---

Mario Party is fun, but games take a while to play, and explaining the rules to younger people can be tedious. But it is great fun. ---

I’ve never played the new Wario Ware, but the old (for the gamecube) was loads of fun, so that might be worth looking in to. ---

It’s not really a party type game, but taking turns or playing cooperative(although you would have to buy a second guitar) on Guitar Hero III are both a lot of fun. You get a score for each song as well, so you could make a competition out of it. ---

Wario Ware, is pretty kiddish and i think you need to unlock multi player. Mario party 8 is pretty good. I know people say games take a while to play, but thats only cause people tend to play on different boards. Its posisble to just play the mini games and have a thing where first to win 5 mini games win. and a few variations of that which is a lot quicker and a lot of fun. ---

I haven’t played it yet, but Link’s Crossbow Training is just out this week. It comes with the zapper shell for the remote, and it’s only $20. I doubt that it’s a deep game, but from the looks of it it will be easy to pick up and play. ---

Wario Ware is pretty fun, even if it is “kiddish”. You do have to unlock multiplayer, but it doesn’t take that long. You can also alternate playing on the single player mode. ---

I forgot to mention this. I have not played it, but Rayman Raving Rabbids is popular and said to be a lot of fun. ---

Warioware plays fast and would be easy for people all the way down to probably 8 or maybe even younger to pick up. The minigames in Rayman are really tough, at least for me. There were a few that it took three adults to figure out and many tries before success. ---

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz has about 50 mini-games for two-four people, ranging from racing to darts (my favorite…you hold the wiimote like a dart and “throw” it at the board on the screen). You don’t have to unlock them or anything, they’re always available. Some games are only for two or three people, but I think most can be four player. –FCOD ---

Mario Party is great for 2+ players. But you definitely want to play it for a few hours first so you can unlock the mini games. ---

Thanks for the suggestions. After looking Mario Party, Wario and Raving Rabids sound like what I’m looking for, I was only planning to buy one. Anybody have a preference for which is best? ---

As I said, I have not played Raving Rabbids, but I have WarioWare:Smooth Moves and the kids rented Mario Party 8. Of the two, I know they prefer WarioWare. The big negative about WarioWare, though, is that it only uses one controller. If you are playing one of the multiplayer games, you have to keep switching off who has the controller. It can get annoying when you are trying to put the wriststrap on and off, since you don’t have a huge amount of time to switch. ---

The only one I’ve played is Raving Rabbids, but it convinced us to buy a Wii for Christmas, for what it’s worth. ---

[/QUOTE] I think “Mario” or “Zelda” has been mentioned in nearly every Wii thread. Those would probably be the best place to start for Wii threads. As for party games, I don’t have any experience beyond Wii Sports and Wii Play, but I heard a lot of good things about Rayman Raving Rabbids. Guitar Hero is great, but most of the music is not exactly “mom-friendly.” ---

I’d also add Big Brain Academy as a great party game. The games themselves are very simple, but it’s astonishing how tough they get when you’re trying to do them as fast as possible to beat the other guy(s). ---

WarioWare is completely awesome for a group - not having the rules explained to you is kind of the point. It gives you a way to hold the Wiimote - the “elephant”, the “mop”, etc., and then there’s a really fast minigame that you sort of have to figure out on the fly.
