He’s written three so far and I think they’re pretty funny regardless of whether you’ve seen the actual episode or not. Definitely worth a read for the offbeat humor and the behind the scenes experiences.

“But she then adds that she doesn’t feel anything from the mysterious assistant, like he isn’t even there. (This theme is widely repeated in Troi and Riker fan fiction on Usenet.)”

My favorite part:

> [@](#):
>
> Troi suggests they talk with the Ferengi, and Picard is all, “Uh, we just did, stupid! They ignored us.” And then Troi is all, “Hey, you’re stupid! You should go try again and suck up to them a little bit.” Then Picard is all “Hey, Geordi, what do you think?” And Geordi is all, “I’m just gonna shrug because I got all ‘woo-eee’ about that plan that didn’t work.” So then Picard is all, “Well, does anyone have any other ideas? Because right now going to suck up to them is about the best you guys have given me.” They’re all, like, dude, and they leave. So Riker comes up and is all, “Hey, what do you want to do, man?” And Picard goes, “I totally want to surrender, because I’m, like, scared. Will you hold me?” And Riker is all, “Ewww gross!” And then Picard is all, “No, seriously, dude. If the shit gets too heavy, I want you to blow it up.” And Riker is all, “Damn, Gina. That is crazy!” And then Picard is all, “True dat, biotch.”
>
> _(Okay, I don’t know why I just turned into a 9th grade girl imitating Snoop Dogg, as I described that scene, but it made me laugh. If you didn’t find it as amusing as I did, I’m going to be all, “oh yeah? Well . . . you are!” KTHX.)_

favorite quote so far:

"Data says Ferengi are like traders, and explains this with the most obvious contemporary reference: Yankee traders from 18th century America. This indicates that, in the 24th century, the traditional practice of using 400 year-old comparisons is still in vogue, like when you’re stuck in traffic on the freeway, and you say, “Man, this is just like Vasco de Gama trying to go around the Cape of Good Hope!” "

I liked this one:

> The message cleverly turns control of the Enterprise over to “acting captain Wesley Crusher.” Wesley activates the comm, thanks him, and Trekkies all across America scream “WORST. EPISODE. EVER!” (It’s possible that alt.wesley.die.die.die was created at this moment, but the historical record is unclear.)

Glad some of you are enjoying it. I can’t wait for him to write more. The “Obligatory Technobabble” section at the end is always good for a laugh.

Yup, that’s some funny shit there. Pretty well-written, too. Props to my man, Wil. _(Don’t know why I started typing like someone much blacker than I am, there. Must be contagious.)_

A second endorsement for Wil’s reviews (and his blog). He had me hooked with this line from the first review, of “The Naked Now”:

> [@](#):
>
> Geordi examines a sonic shower, and a frozen woman falls into his arms. Geordi doesn’t know it, but he’s just been infected with the Tsiolokovsky disease. He also doesn’t know it, but this is the closest he’ll get to holding a woman until season three. Unfortunately, when he finally does, she’ll be just as frigid.

Oh, _SNAP!_ 😃

This is funny shit. The few times I’ve watched TNG in recent years, I’ve found that some of it - especially the early stuff - was pretty darn bad. So this is fun to read, and in some way, it’s karmic redemption for Wesley.

_Seinfeld_, too:

Collect residuals?

With few exceptions, nobody who was a cast member on a TV show that runs more than five seasons ever has to work again, basically.

My pick so far (only read the first one…)

\*"Back in engineering, everyone tries to accept responsibility for the crisis (well, everyone except Kosinski, who wishes he’d saved up some whizz for the occasion) and Riker ultimately tells Picard that Wesley knew something was going on, tried to warn them and nobody would listen.

Yeah! Suck it, jerks! Wesley was right, bitches, and you wouldn’t listen to him! Woo! Go Wesley! Go Wesley! It’s your birthday! It’s your birthday!"\*

I was always impressed with Wil Wheaton when he was on the show; he used to post on GEnie and it was clear he knew in the beginning that the show wasn’t all that good. I remember him saying something like, “Look, we know the characters are wooden and the stories stink, but the fanboys tune in and give it good ratings, so it won’t improve until they don’t.”
