I was under the impression WB might not know about the codes that you need to stick in there [_B_] BOLD WORD [\_/_B_] afterwards (no underscores for the real thing) - isn’t that what you’re asking, Bill? There’s probably a primer of some sort in the “about this message board” board, isn’t there? And I’m on an Imac using Netscape, and bold doesn’t actually show up here. I don’t know if that’s Netscape or what, but that might be contributing to the problem. Esprix’s tips on quote marks are good ones. Since we’re giving grammar lessons, I’ll add mine - and these are directed sorta at Bill (in a friendly and constructive way, I should add), but anyone else feel free to listen in since we’re in the Pit and people who misuse these bug the hell out of me : You’re - contraction for “you are” Ex. - “You’re so silly, Rhino!” Your - belonging to you Ex. - “Pick up your clothes.” It’s - contraction for “it is” Ex. “It’s raining men!” Its (no apostrophe) - belonging to “it” Ex. - “The dog lost its collar.” They are actually four separate and distinct words with different meanings, not two words that have four meanings. I understand that can be confusing, as usually one adds an apostrophe to show posession, except you don’t in the case of “its”. That’s why it’s tricky, but with proper practice it becomes second nature. Next week’s lesson: Me, Myself, and I - Three more words that are not interchangeable. ---

I’m still thinking about Wildest Bill’s accusation that Esprix has an “infactuation.” As a word, I like it. It has a lof of potential. “Infactuation - a strong compulsion to have your facts straight before shooting off your mouth.” Seems like a quality worthy of emulation, doesn’t it WB? ---

I’ve been gone a few days, so things might have changed, but my interactions/observations with/of the Wild Guy usually go as follows: 1. **Wildest Bill** makes a moronic and almost illegible opening statement; 2. Several people flame him; 3. One or two posters respond seriously to him; 4. **Wildest Bill** actually listens and responds to the serious posts, and often expresses respect for the opposing POV. Of course, his responses still show a complete contempt for the concept of grammar. Do I agree with him? No. Do I want my daughter to date him? Hell no! Do I want to take a dictionary and shove it up his ass? Absolutely. Is he a fuckwad? I don’t think so. Sua ---

Esprix: Wildest Bill is the type of cretin who feeds off of this kind of attention. I’m sure he’s stroking his ego so fast over this he’s just spraying everything like a cat in heat. I understand your annoyance with him and dolts like him. I’ve had to suffer tradesilicon and a few others who just love to be dickhead advocates and make absurd claims just so they can attempt to feel superior even though they still haven’t been able to grow an opposable thumb. Some people cannot be chastised with a strong, well supported argument, or with the most scathing of flames. Say what you want, but remember that it probably won’t stick. For it to stick, his mind would have to be open and he’d have to hear you. All he can hear is himself, and what a hideous thing that must be to listen to. I think it would be like listening to Rush Limbaugh and Dr. Laura fucking. ---

Most of them are pretty decent folk, but they are simply not used to diversity of background/lifestyle/opinion, and often have no idea how offensive some of the things that they say can be to others. Of course, some of them are racist, homophobic, hate-filled assholes, too. But IMHO, I don’t think WB fits into that category. I think his statements, ridiculous as they often are, arise more out of ignorance than hatred. He appears to have taken some of the criticism directed at him to heart (regarding his terrible grammar, at least). Maybe the other comments will eventually have an impact, too. ---

For Esprix’s sake (and the rest of us), I hope that WB doesn’t start to feel like he’s being bullied here. He bragged in the IMHO bully thread that as a kid, he went after 4 bullies with a gun. Even included a smilie. I hope he was just trying to fit in after we explained Ender Wiggin to him, but… ---
