OK. one more time. **Wildest Bill** is not ignorant. He does not lack education, or knowledge of information. Neither is **Wildest Bill** insensitive. Do you really think he wishes to call people towel heads, or approves of bombing abortion clinics, or is in favour of any of the many and varied activities he has proposed? To put this as simply as I can, **Wildest Bill** is a puppetmeister, and everyone who responds to his threads are his puppets. **Wildest Bill** is winding you all up, playing you along, telling the tale, spinning a yarn, whatever you want to call it, and in responding to his threads in the way that you do, you are doing exactly what **Wildest Bill** wants you to do. I am now prepared to believe that some posters need **Wildest Bill** as much as **Wildest Bill** needs them. Think about it. Look at his comments. Try to imagine an ironic smile on his face as you read his words. Consider **Wildest Bill** in this context, instead of viewing him as some kind of irrational jerk. He is not. ---

I seriously fucking doubt it. My personal theory is that Bill is a masochist. He enjoys the beatings and abuse that he so regularly receives on these boards. (I generally don’t like to lay into Bill, mostly because he takes all the abuse he gets with such good humor, seldom returning any of it. Sometimes my temptations get the better of me, though.) ---

After reading through his threads about [use of pig’s blood as a terrorist repellent](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=89933), [pondering if the terrorism meant we can use slurs like “towelhead”](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=88444), [advocating the most ghastly, excruiating torture for terrorists](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=86961) (even though he professes to be a Christian), I’ve come to the conclusion that what we’ve got here is our very own SDMB version of Phil Hendrie. Except Phil Hendrie does it for the amusement of a mass audience, and he admits the whole thing is just a joke. The scary thing is that not only is **Wildest Bill** not a joke, he’s probably not the only specimen of his kind. The man is a barking loon. Nowadays I just regard his posts as nothing more than background noise, with the occasional post causing me to despair in my fellow countryman. **Bill?** A little memo from someone who doesn’t like the idea of abortion, either: Making it illegal won’t make it go away. Far better to work on the causes of unwanted pregnancies. ---

What is Bill? Bill’s a martyr. Here he is, witnessing to the godless and getting skewered for it, just like all those old-timey missionaries who got et by cannibals. Remenber, every time you start a pit therad about him, it’s another crown earned up in Jack Chick Heaven, where “charmin Billy” expects to be spending a blissful eternity, along with all those guys who kill abortion quacks. The SDMB is just his personal cross to bear, conveniently located in his own home town and without any actual pain or deprivation. What a deal! ---

I’d go out out on a limb and say it is inherently offensive and it _has_ crossed a line. I’m not condemning **Maeglin’s** outrage, but that’s not exactly a very Christian thing to say either.
