The Democratic convention, in whatever form it takes, starts 3 weeks from today.
The Covid zombie social condition is going to be around for another year, and there’s currently no reason to believe the protests and embedded vandalism and violence will end, except by infighting. Because their longevity is obviously a by-product of Covid and having nothing else to do.
Biden would rather not have to address the unrest, but he can’t wait much longer than the convention. When he does, “progressive” twitter is going to shit its pants. And then his poll numbers will go up.
So, just to be clear, you’re going to offer nothing to support the idea that the police showing up during a break-in in time to protect a person from harm is anything but a blue-line fantasy scenario? It seems like most of the ‘what are you going to do without police’ scenarios that blue-wall-supporters put forward are actually scenarios where, for an ordinary person, the police don’t actually do anything but file a report on the incident if you’re lucky. Police response times just don’t support the idea that one could expect the police to turn up to stop someone breaking into an ordinary home if you call them.
If the protests didnt get at least some passive support from the democrats they would not be happening. If Biden becomes president suddenly the press will also turn against protesters instead of supporting them like they do now.
Same as the “Occupy Wall Street” protests back during Obama didnt go anywhere and were kept carefully controlled.
I feel that Trump is one of the central causes of the rioting. He’s always given his support to white power groups and he’s always shown he doesn’t give a damn about enforcing the law. The result is a lot of bad cops have decided they can harass minorities without fear of arrest. The people who are being harassed (and killed) are justifiably protesting against this.
When Trump is out of office, law enforcement will be put back under legal restraints. When the police are back under proper control, the killings and other harassment will be driven back underground. And when the cause that motivates the rioting is reduced, the rioting will decline. The criminals who are committing crimes will no longer have a crowd of peaceful protesters to hide among. The police, who will no longer being attacking protesters, can go back to what should be their real job - enforcing the law and arresting real criminals.
