Al Quaeda means “the base” in Arabic and also is the title of Arabic translations of Ayn Rand’s “The Fountainhead”. Perhaps he was referring to the growing influence and popularity of Ayn Rand and the legions of Randroids which threaten to take over the US. Also, “Al Quaeda” is the Arabic translation of Isaac Asimov’s “Foundation” so it’s possible he was talking about the timeless popularity and influence of Isaac Asimov’s books which even decades later still hold up and continue to inspire generations of fans and new writers. ---

Did Rush Limbaugh or some other gasbag rant for 3 hours about Sharia today? I saw a Sharia with a red line bumper sticker today and I just laughed at the idiocy of it. Has any member of any of the 51 legislatures in the United States sponsored a bill for the adoption of Sharia law? Is it going to go anywhere? No. As a liberal, I can say that we liberals will oppose the establishment of Islam as the official religion of the United States. Is Sharia the modern big bad enemy that right wing religious nuts use as a boogeyman to scare themselves and raise money? We liberals are going to approve a swift bullet to the brain of all Al Queda leaders, without strutting around in fake pilots suits under Mission Accomplished banners. ---
