Will Congress forestall every attempt by Obama to appoint a new justice for the rest of his term?

Only the top hit in your google search is a relevant one and it’s from 1999. BrainGlutton’s “really” link is from 2013. Maybe you should drop this from your “reasons I hate Salon” list.

Al Franken had a brilliant response to the GOP tactics:

It was actually on the top of my “reasons I used to like Salon” list.

I think if fluoridation is the top of any list you got, you might want to reexamine your priorities. Unless you run a municipality’s water supply, then I’ll forgive it. Sort of.

If Trump is looking unbeatable on the GOP side, and the GOP starts to think they are likely to lose the white house anyway, will they be more amenable to hearings on a moderate nominee to head off having to stop a more liberal nominee next year? Will the Democrats actually not fight all that hard to get a nominee in this year?

Possibly, though in such a case Obama might put forward a particularly progressive nominee.
