Damn. He was a fantastic artist who inspired and trained many of the industry greats. But people often forget that he was also a brilliant writer and storyteller. His graphic novels are among my favorite reads ever. Funny, touching, sentimental, harsh all at the same time. He will continue to inspire emulation, but it will be a far day before we see his like again.
And let’s not forget–his female characters were among the sexiest in comics.
Like P’Gell for example.
The man’s work is the only comics my wife will read. She knows nothing and cares less about the medium, and yet when I told her just now, she was visibly upset.
This is a woman who blinked nary an eyelid when Leslie Cheung passed.
A sad, sad day for his family, for comics and for the world at large.
He shall be missed.
