I think a lot of the “This will go on your permanent record!” threats that a lot of us got as children imparted a skewed understanding of background checks,

I got a hold of my original permanent record several years ago and was able to take out all of the negative remarks and even add in some glowing recommendations before I returned to its location. You’d be amazed at the stuff they are able to collect on us. Blew my mind!
