I’ll be sure to take that under advisement, because I’m quite confident that you actually polled many males rather than pulling that out of your ass.

Y’know, I don’t like Lady Gaga that much as an artist. Some songs I think are listenable, probably most I don’t. And I’m not sold on her brilliance or her status as a revolutionary by any means; personally, her shtick never did much for me.

But has it occurred to you, like at all, that making the statement above means she has well and truly whupped your ass? To be honest, the fact that you’re saying it, apparently in earnest, and seem indignant about it makes me think that maybe she _is_ something kind of special.

But I am willing to be convinced that it was all worth it… the greatest feat of mothering ever.

I read this assuming you meant GaGa. It got more and more confusing, and wierdly pornliscious. Then I realized that you meant this Octomom person, and it became even more disturbing. Congratulations.

What we really need now is an LG song about Octomom. Actually, parts of Bad Romance might fit your relationship with Octomom.

Not to mention: _I want your horror_.

Wow. She is relevant.

[This woman](http://static.thehollywoodgossip.com/images/gallery/lady-gaga-rolling-stone-cover_390x471.jpg) is anti-attractive? Really?

I agree, she’s not melt your face off hot like say Angelina Jolie is, but I’d question the mental faculties of anyone who considered Lady Gaga “ugly.”

There was a whole thread full of people here, even fans of hers, calling her ugly awhile back. I’ve always disagreed.

Yeah, I think she intentionally uglies herself up for certain performances, but I actually think she’s beautiful. A different kind of beauty for sure, but generally pretty. I follow this rule: if my buddy brought her to a party and was like, “Hey, this is my new gf!” would I be horrified? Not at all in this case. Well, unless she rolled in wearing a meat dress.

When I was watching the VMAs with friends, they were all going on and on about what a beast Gaga is, especially pointing out her nose. Needless to say, me and my Italian nose were a little offended. Then again, maybe that makes me a little biased 🙂

Lady Gaga sans costume (AKA “normal”): [Lady GaGa appears refreshingly normal as she reveals 'I want a husband and children' | Daily Mail Online](http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1232561/Lady-GaGa-appears-refreshingly-normal-reveals-I-want-husband-children.html)

I think even calling her “a different kind of beauty” is a little strange. Would she really be that out of place in the pop landscape if she looked like that every night instead of parading around in dinosaur bones?

She’s fairly attractive, but there’s something about every outfit and appearance she has in _Bad Romance_ that’s just intensely hot, except maybe for the CG eyes. I was unimpressed by _Telephone_, but I can’t stop watching the _Bad Romance_ video.

Well, that’s still a costume. She’s wearing more makeup than the average girl there and is styled by fashion’s greats. [This is her far before fame](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SIK-yzlxiU) on a little reality show on MTV. She’s the one with the black tube top dress and long brown pony. That’s about as normal as Gaga gets (and truthfully, I don’t think anyone would recognize that girl as Lady Gaga if she was walking down the street.

That Italian nose of hers definitely sticks out amongst the button nosed pop tarts. Hell, look at Ashlee Simpson and her big ass nose-- as soon as she hit it big enough, she got it shaved down. Same thing with Ashley Tisdale.

She may be wearing a lot of makeup for the average girl, but not for the average celebrity. I still say there’s nothing in that picture that makes her look too different from the average celebrity. It’s only the costumes that make people want to classify her as “ugly.”

Now that’s where I disagree with you. I actually think it’s her own marketing machine that puts the “ugly” thing out there. I can’t fully articulate it yet, but it’s a strong gut feeling. One thing I find interesting is that it’s almost always her _fans_ who call her ugly or “unconventionally pretty”-- not her haters.

I wouldn’t call her “ugly” by any stretch, but she’s definitely unconventional-looking even when she’s attired and made-up in a fairly normal way (as in [this Cosmo cover](http://www.celebrityviplounge.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/lady-gaga-cosmo-cover.jpg)). Not your typical beauty in terms of facial structure.

EDIT: oh Lord, I posted this right after someone saying “her fans…call her ugly or ‘unconventionally pretty.’” But I have to say, before her fairly dramatic weight loss and taking on her various current images, she was even less conventional-looking (i.e. the “Poker Face”-era look).

Being “ugly” is part of her appeal and is an attempt to set her apart from other female pop singers around her age. She makes a lot of fuss about being one of the “freaks” or one of the “outsiders”, so by putting herself forward as unattractive (or at least less attractive than your average popstar) she connects with her fanbase on a level the others can’t.

Compare Madonna’s Vogue, which was all about feeling beautiful through music and dance, no matter what you look like, with Gaga’s Bad Romance - “I want your ugly, I want your disease”. She’s trying to accentuate the “undesirable” to give herself a clear individual identity.

Whether this is right or wrong, I don’t know. But it’s definitely part of her image and marketing.
