Will my 17 year old know what this doodad is?

A very badly degraded POG?

I forgot to ask him when he was here yesterday. :smack: Ah well, I’ll see him on Friday, so I’ll ask him then. Durn teenagers having their own lives and schedules over school break! How dare he?

I have an idea… You mentioned in your other thread about making beaded necklaces for your kids for Christmas. Could you make the adapter into a pendant for said necklace? That could be a retro-cool unique thing, especially if he’s into music.

Oooh…that *is *a good idea! I hadn’t found a piece “manly” enough for him in my boxes…but this would be neat!

I’m 46 and I knew instantly.

I doubt your son would unless he is a DJ.

If you do, take a picture and let us see how it turns out.

I think you’re doing it wrong.

The advantage to using the adapter was that you could make use of one of the greatest features. If you have (had) a “deluxe” phonograph you could stack records at the top of the spindle held in place with an armature. There was a mechanism that would drop the next record down in the replay sequence.
This feature had limitations for 33 1/3 RPM due to the weigh of the larger records causing speed problems due to slippage, motor quality, etc. but for 45s it worked alot better. You could load up as many 45s as it would allow, in what ever order you want and it would play them until it ran out.
Plus it could be all hit singles without suffering through a whole LP.
All Killer, No Filler as we used to say… kinda like your own mixed tape… but that’s another story.

I remember those cd’s, but I never knew they made adapters, because every player I had always accepted both types.

Have you seen the cd business card? Try to get an adapter for those.

The German, Japanese and Thai CD companies put out huge amounts of 3" CDS. I have several adaptors for them.

Whoopi Goldberg has one she wears on The View fairly often. It makes a nice necklace. Hers is silver.

We had one of these, so we didn’t use a lot of the type from the OP, this enabled stacking.
