There is *some *truth about ISIS finding some support among the Kurds, as I pointed out upthread. And the Iraqi Kurds are predominantly Sunni, and sure as hell don’t want *Iranian *Shiites in control of their affairs. The current Iraqi government is effectively an Iranian proxy, so it’s easy to understand why they have no confidence in the Iraqi/Iranian status quo - pretty sure they’ve had enough of that.
I doubt they get a say and in the long term it is not either/or. Kirkuk etc are not part of the kurdish province and I doubt other factions will just shrug their shoulders…
