What if it’s deemed prudent to bring it all down swiftly?
Too costly to protect it all from vandals and firebugs, long term?
I bet you could make that case.

This. The Ballroom will need to be torn down and then offices rebuilt—and the oligarchs who’ve been sucking up to Trump can pay for it, in exchange for prominent mention at the “One Hundred Celebrations of America” that will be held in the Ballroom in the first two years of the new Administration (roughly one each weekend).
These Celebrations should be of:
With each Celebration, more funding for the tear-down and rebuilding will be banked. The two years of Celebrations will feature a count-down, showcasing America’s interest in anticipating the day the first wrecking ball hits!
If Congress deems it as such, sure.
It would be a political mistake for the President get mixed up in this beyond signing the bill. Better to be seen spending time on helping the country rather than his house.
I am for abolishing the filibuster so Congress can pass laws more swiftly.
Assuming it is worth keeping from a structural point of view I would rename it Biden-Obama hall. But I am very much afraid it will be unsound and have to come down.
Bush had the Press Room completely gutted and modernized, and a few other changes to the White House, including solar power. Obama did not change it back.
If unsound it has to be made safe or redone, of course.
Double naming is too reminiscent of the Trump Kennedy Center.
That’s my first and second thought here. My third thought is that even if it seems structurally OK for a year or two, it will soon start leaking, what with it being built too quickly in a swampy area. So I do not want it associated with a Democrat. Bad enough that congressional Democrats are going to have to vote money to either replace it or fix it.
Unlike Trump his replacement will likely know how to delegate. “Find me a plan that gets rid of this monstrosity and replaces it with something actually useful.” They won’t be picking curtain colors and gold geegaws out of a catalog like his nibs does.
“If” is doing a lot of heavy lifting here.
No, name it after Carter, who unselfishly built so many homes for the under privileged. And Carter is dead now, so that is okay.
Then name a moderate cost housing development after Carter.
Putting aside that I dislike the man, if there was any president it would be appropriate to name the ballroom after, surely it is Donald Trump.
But I actually would stop naming stuff after presidents. Especially federal buildings. And more especially parts of the White House.
Assuming it is structurally sound, how does Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial Ballroom sound to you? I think he is the greatest president not to have a DC memorial.
But it will almost certainly be too shoddy for that.
Any minute now you’ll realize FDR does have a DC memorial.
What about Fred Astaire? He had a ballroom association. Or Arthur Murray.
This may be irrational, but I do not want anything named after Democratic presidents because they’ll just name something else after Trump.
Rationally, though, naming lots of places after Trump is inevitable. Perhaps they’ll name a red state after him. Or at least a state capitol.
If i was elected president (not a chance) I would absolutely have a laundry list of things to undo that Trump did. Putting the Rose Garden back for example.
I’d literally have it set to go a minute after I gave the Oath of Office.
A guy can dream.
Re last post, rescind ilegal tariffs.
Invite trans servicemembers back in.
Free whatever political prisoners he will have managed to lock up by then.
Order third country renditions stopped immediately.
It’s getting late, so there must be a long list of items, to come before fixing up his government-supplied residence, that I’m not thinking of.
