Will the original Star Wars trilogy still be talked about in 100 or 500 years time?

That’s interesting, but I gotta tell you, you’re in a small minority. The number of people who like role playing games *in exclusion to movies *is pretty tiny and there’s no sign that that is changing anytime soon.

As to the OP…

100 years? Not a doubt in my mind, none whatsoever, Star Wars will still be well known. After all, the original film is already a third of the way there and shows no signs of losing its hold on popular culture. It is immensely popular even with people who were born long after it was made - I am friends with a 21-year-old woman who is absolutely crazy about Star Wars (and the original series only) and, despite being a very attractive and popular young woman, is saving up to buy a Stormtrooper uniform. That’s a FANBASE. It is one of the most popular entertainment franchises of my lifetime. If you go back 100 years many of the most popular entertainment franchises of that time are still going strong… they’re still making Sherlock Holmes movies, after all.

500 years is impossible to guess. “Probably not, but it’s not entirely impossible” is the only real answer.

Not carefully enough. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes, RP games, even those involving virtual worlds, attract a tiny fraction of the populace because they require effort and creativity (which is also why they are so addictive to those who can play them). I would also argue that the virtual world environment lowers the barrier for players, but still there is that effort thing even in a virtual world. However, there are a LOT of people who think movies are at best background stuff to have on while they play other kinds of games, specifically, video games like HALO and Portal and such. I’m just thinking that if we get some kind of innovation that makes video games more immersive, video games will become the new movies. For many people, they already are.
