> The claim the Romney won independents is a bit misguided. Many of the “independents” are in fact former faithful Republicans who have become disillusioned with their party’s takeover by the right wing extremists. You can have a big tent or you can have a pure tent, you can’t have both. They chose the pure tent as witnessed by all of the presidential candidates trying to out-right each other in the primaries.

Don’t forget that “independent” does not necessarily mean “centrist” – there are independents to the **right** of the GOP, and there are independents to the left of the Democrats.

Obama was always ahead on enough state polls to win the election even at Romneys peak about a week after the first debate.

> Whilst I wait for more results let me explain something that a poster brought up…regarding my use of the term ‘mexican’.
>
> The simple truth is there is no such thing as a hispanic…that is just a pc term the liberals adopted because for some reason they consider ‘mexican’ a bad woid.
>
> Now Straight Ahead for the Straight Dope
>
> The term “Hispanic” as a contrived governmental pc label with no validity that has taken root worldwide. I tell anyone who will listen that there is no such thing as a Hispanic or Hispanic culture. Further, there are 21 individual countries around the world that speak Spanish with, in most cases, the Spanish language being the only thing they have in common. Unfortunately, this false term has now become synonymous with being in favor of or supporting illegal immigration. It is my contention that both the term and premise are wrong.
>
> Futhamoe… for every illegal working in a vegetable market or construction site, there is a wife and multiple children being supported by “we the taxpayers of this nation.” They use our schools, health facilities, social welfare resources, and infrastructure while contributing little or nothing to the public coffers. A good portion of their illegal income (illegal because they do not have the right to work here) is a large part of their native country’s gross national product. We know that countries like Mexico depend on these illegally obtained American dollars to bolster their failing economies and relieve political and social unrest.
>
> Further, I am against all of these celebrations and parades in honor of this false title and premise. There are, however, 44 countries that speak English. Using the very same criteria that is used to put all immigrants (legal and illegal), and the descendants of people who came from a Spanish speaking countries together as “Hispanic,” I’d like to see the descendants of these 44 English speaking countries bound together, as we are, under a term such as “Britannic.” Further, I would like to see them marching down Fifth Avenue in New York City celebrating “Britannic Culture,” “Britannic Music,” “Britannic food” . . . get the picture? I myself will accept the term Hispanic when all the English speaking people of the world start calling themselves “Britannic.”
>
> Who is responsible for propagating the notion that the United States of America is the only nation in the world that does not have the right to protect its borders or enforce its laws? The liberals of course.
>
> Further, this is the only nation in the world where someone can enter illegally then protest en masse demanding amnesty and rights. We who are patriots say the only rights that an illegal alien should have in United States are the rights to be detained and deported.

If I could speak for my fellow liberals, I think you’re absolutely right. In fact, I encourage you to continue thinking this way and propagate this line of thinking to everyone you encounter so that they can be show the righteous truth of what you’re espousing. If there is anything lacking in American culture right now, its more Anglo descendants standing up for “Britannic” culture. This kind of thing needs to be widespread and known, so that every brown skinned person who can vote legally or illegally knows what they are up against. Even the impression of an Anglo-White culture revolution is enough to scare them, and fear will make them surely see your side of things.

Moreover, I think you should force the issue of religion. There’s just not enough Christians talking about Christianity nowadays. March on Washington like Martin Luther King did, but show the country the strength of the Anglo culture by dressing alike, in white hats, pants, shirts, and hoodies. And when the nation sees a million white hoods descend upon them like a crashing tidal wave, they will know that the White culture and race is strong, they are many, and they are angry. Perhaps you can even carry signs that you are backed by God, giant crucifixes perched upon your shoulders. And the rally will need to last all night, so set those crosses on fire.

The “hispanics”, that made up “race”, will see this and cower, for that is their nature state of things. So will the “Asians” and the “blacks”, and all those people from the Middle East like “Iran” and fake countries like “Canada”. Once they see how strong Britain is, all of this PC liberal BS will drop like a body through a trap door. I think 2014 is very winnable, and 2016 even more so. It is the Democrats who are running in fear, because even though the older white population that has been the Republican’s bread and butter for years is dying off, there are even whiter, older people just up the horizon. Obama did not win the 70 year olds, or the 80 year olds, or 90. With our excellent health care, they will live for decades more and usher in a Republican wave stronger than ever before. Liberals be warned, you have awoken a sleeping giant. An 80 year old sleeping giant, but still pretty big. And when they start having kids with their young trophy wives, why, it will only be 20 more years until their kids grow up and start voting Republican!

Don’t let these fools stop you from smiling, Jack, because they know not what they have unleashed. In 20 years, the country will be much much different than it is today. And when they start voting Republican, you can be there to say you told them so

I hate to change the subject from SmilinJack’s thesis, but another reason the Romney campaign didn’t catch fire is what I call the “integrity gap.” Romney (and many republicans) lied about Obama, lied about their own records, lied about the economy, the auto industry, the heath care law, etc., etc., etc. They couldn’t be believed, or trusted, and as a result lost a whole lot of potential “independent” votes. I would have a lot more respect for, and could even consider voting for, a republican who said, in effect, “The President and I have some different ideas. He means well, but here is why I think my policies would be better for the nation.” Romney got close to this for a little while, but couldn’t maintain it and reverted back to “he isn’t one of us, hates this country, destroying the economy, moving jobs to China, etc.”

I heartily endorse your idea of celebrating Nigerian, Filipino, Jamaican, Ghanaian, Belizean, Pakistani, and Ugandan cultures (among many others), and look forward to seeing a celebration in NYC of all these cultures and their wonderful variety of food and music. I also commend you for your great affection for such differing (and significantly Muslim!) cultures as Pakistani and Nigerian.

Bravo, sir!

Yes absolutely…I am new here but I would bet most of these deluded folk are white liberal and thoroughly politically correct.

And for the real reason the Republicans lost(which has been outed already)but let me spell it out clearly for those who didnt get it…The White Working Class did not vote overwhelmingly for Romney…though he got most of their votes he did not get the huge majority of them he needed…way too many of them voted for Obama because the Republicans as usual had nothing to offer the White Working Class but a little lip service.

Now the above sounds very simple and it is…so simple in fact the majority of White Folk just do not get it…they will write it off as being racist…irregardless of that…it does not matter…what does matter is the ramifications of white folk letting the minorities and the media decide the course of this nation.

If the White Working Class does not step up to the plate and damn soon and take control of this country they can fawgetttttt about every thing they think America is, should be and is capable of being…because folks this country will go down the toilet if you let the minorities control its destiny.

The elections statistics prove the White Working Class was the key to the election…if the White Working Class had voted en masse Republican like the minorities did for the democrats we would have had a Repubilican Victory and a President who would not have been a lame duck like obama…say what you will about Romney and I did not particuarly like him…but there is no doubt he would have had a much better capability to get this country moving…now instead we are stuck with no leadership in the White House and we drift from disaster to disaster…thats what happens folks when you let the fools run the country.

Some of us “White Folk” voted for Obama because we thought he was doing a pretty fine job. You’d probably put me in the “deluded” category.

As opposed to what? What **could** the Pubs have offered the White Working Class this cycle? A harder line on immigration? You’ll find that is no winning strategy nationally.
