I dunno, when they found Saddam in his hidey-hole, there was a huge surge of support for Bush according to polls at the time (IIRC). This seems pretty similar, it could result in another huge surge that will help offset the taint of being Republican and hence associated with Bush.
I don’t see it. I think we all knew that Saddam was probably dead as soon as the trial started. Saddam himself is no longer an issue; it’s the state of Iraq now that most people think about.
