Will the video of Brown in the convenience store be admitted as evidence in Wilson's prosecution?

That timeline has yet to be established in public. The Chief’s statements can’t really be viewed as verifiable fact yet. But that is probably one of the issues that can be close to proved or disproved in this case. Unless the department is really in the Dark Ages equipment wise all phone calls and radio calls should be recorded and time stamped. So they will know when the call came in and what was said. They will know what was put out over the air by dispatch. They will know when the responding officer got to the store and what he put out over the air. And we should know when Wilson made contact with Brown. You can’t prove what exactly went into his ears and what he heard. But what was put out over the air and when should be able to be proven.

… and yet the only reason people claim that Wilson was not aware of the robbery is by misinterpreting what the chief’s initial statement was.

The reason people are making specious claims about what Wilson knew is that the police department is releasing facts piecemeal in a method that appears calculated to protect Wilson (which I can’t blame them for). The ultimate facts might well show he is innocent of any wrongdoing but I am highly suspicious of the way this information has been released.

In your opinion which facts should be released before they are presented to the Grand Jury?

FYI the process in this case is being greatly expedited. In our court you would be lucky to get in front of the Grand Jury within 3 months.

ETA: facts might be the wrong word. Findings, evidence, reports etc.

How the hell are they going to find 12 people who haven’t already seen the video multiple times by now?

I’ve heard several different legal “experts” on CNN and FOX say that this Grand Jury wouldn’t be finished until sometime in Oct.

And that the defendant (the officer, in this case) has no “right” to give testimony but could be called to do so. It’s the prosecution’s show from beginning to end.

In my opinion the police department should either be telling the public everything it knows or nothing at all.

There is an police investigation and a criminal case pending against the officer. District Attorneys don’t like to try their case in the public before they can get to trial.

Are you agreeing or disagreeing?

The police departments do not always have the last word on what gets released to the public.

Prosecutors do not release information because they have a case pending. I agree that the prosecutor should withhold information from the public, relative to the trial.

I believe that the defense should be allowed to see everything that the prosecution has.

I don’t agree that the police should “immediately” release all evidence to the public.

I think you missed the point. I don’t care what the DA’s office is telling people.
