Yes they did. And they showed that if Republicans continue to go down this road they’ll continue to win elections. This was the nuclear option. So it’s time for both sides to just cut it out.

He was one of the best post-WW2 PotUS, Clothy. We could do a lot worse than another Bill Clinton in office. Hell, we ARE doing a lot worse, effective January 20.

Just the 2016 Republican candidates for President have enough inspirational stories to merit their own congressional district.

John Kasich came from a mill town in Pennsylvania

Marco Rubio was the son of immigrants who got to college on a football scholarship

Ben Carson was the son of an auto worker whose parents divorced when he was eight years old

Jim Gilmore’s parents were a meat cutter and a church secretary

Mike Huckabee’s father was a fireman and his mother was a clerk

Scott Walker’s father was a minister

Lindsay Graham’s parents ran a restaurant-bar-pool hall-liquor store

And look what they turned into.

Because it didn’t work as well. It didn’t have to of course, because there were more whites. But white are shrinking enough that voting as a minority group is something they are naturally falling into.

Are we also trying to say that Reagan made overt appeals to white voters’ identity? I’d say Clinton actually did more of that.

Reagan won white voters by the same margin that Trump did. Reagan won men overall by a few point more than Trump. “Didn’t work as well?”

And Reagan attracted a horde of Democratic voters who saw Carter as incompetent or, at worst, ineffective. So what?

As an aside, funny how very few Republicans chose to abandon the ‘nuclear option’ and voted for Trump anyway, as plainly unsuited and unsuitable as he is.
