Then a PBY tries to rescue him and it gets hit and now there’s half a dozen guys drifing toward the enemy. Long story short it was amazing to read or the trouble and expense we went to to save just one guy, a fact probably not lost on either side, comforting to us and disheartning to the enemy. So I’m relating this and I look at the old store owner and there’s tears streaming down his cheeks. I paused and he said, voice cracking, “Son, I was there… I was there!” I said “You mean the war?” “No, I was _there._” Shaking, he reached for his chair, sat, and stared off into the distance about 40 years and half a world away. I can still hear that choked voice so clearly, and can only imagine the memories and overwhelming emotions that made it what it was. ---

Wow **lieu**! Forgot to say earlier… **Nava** should we be crossing appropriate/inappropriate appendages for ya? Welcome back **spaz**! Does this mean **AgonyAuntRyl** will be makin’ an appearance soon? Also, I just passed a box with some styrofoam in it. Wish I were closer so I could make you a gift. The ideas of UPS store or arts and crafts place seem like good ones. One of the perqs of irkin’ at a DOL office is gettin’ to hear stories of claims appeals and such. Today one of my buds that do that is listenin’ in on claims appeals to grade the hearin’ officers. It kinda sounds like sump’n you’re assigned to do if you’ve been bad IMO but she says it’s a sometimes part of the job. I told her that it’d be more fun if she could have a buzzer or an airhorn to sound when the hearin’ officer does sump’n wrong. She told me I should be in charge. 😃 ---

Good Monday morning, all! 🙂 Wow, **lieu** , what a great story! I too love South Pacific, btw, and watched parts of the movie yesterday but missed one of my favorites, "Honey Bun, - “they call her hips twirly and whirly!” I’m not a fan of the colored tints the director used on some scenes, though. Michener did base the book on what happened to him in the South Pacific and much of the tales in the book are real. **FCM** , sorry that Taz is on your list (again!) - but it could have been worse. What was making him scratch so furiously, btw?! Good luck with the peach jam. 🙂 Glad your connection is back up and running, **Spaz** , we have missed you!! Back - with some of the most beautimous peaches around!! I did get some at the grocery store, then decided to stop at the Amish shop on the way back - What a difference!!! The ones from the grocery need to ripen a few more days. The Amish peaches are perfect!! So tomorrow, I’ll be jammin’!! I’ve got 3 packs of pectin and way too many jars, since my mom sent me a dozen. I figure for less than $20, I’ll have at least 2 dozen jars of jam. Unless I decide to just freeze some of the peaches for future baking. Hmmmmm… Well, I guess I can’t put it off any longer. Gotta clean the carpets. I don’t wanna. Stoopit cat hork. ---

Well, this has been fun. Sister F has arrived and spent the day with my mom yesterday. They were very tired after driving all night so they stayed at her house. They’ll be here in the next 2 hours or so. Sister M seems to have gone loony. From my brief conversations with her over IM, it sounds to me like she’s having alternating high and low manic episodes. Unfortunately this means she has decided that she doesn’t want anyone to visit her because she’s just an afterthought since everyone is really going up there to see dear ol’ dying grandpa. This actually isn’t the case and everyone was so looking forward to seeing her (and dear ol’ dying grandpa is a douchebag of epic proportions). So now I am once again playing mediator because I’m the only member of my family (apparently) taking an anti-depressant which actually works. My mother is an emotional basket case and Sister F doesn’t have a clue what the hell is going on. So I’m trying to figure out, from over 300 miles away, what exactly is wrong with Sister F and whether or not she really does want to never see us all again. Sigh. ☹ I love my mother and sisters. I really do. It breaks my heart to see them struggle with depression, especially since I am doing so well. I wish their medication worked as well as mine does. So, I just ordered a happy little flower arrangement for Sister M and it will be delivered to her at work. I’m hoping it will break through the funk but chances are pretty good that it wont. Fucking depression. :mad: ---

I changed my Facebook password so I have to fix the uplink whatchamahoochie on LJ, but I posted the link on FB. There’s a shipping place across the street from Irk. I’ll look there tomorrow. If not there I’ll have to force myself to go to Michaels or AC Moore. Force, you understand. Not going to go by the yarn section a-tall. Nope. _angelic smiley_ I got a carton of plums at the store tomorrow. I’m trying to make myself eat more fruit. They’re good but I have a feeling most of them will end up in the break room at irk with a sign saying “free please take.” I like them, but the texture is just…well, there’s a reason I have to make myself eat fruit. ---

I understand the texture thing **Spaz**. That’s why I’m not a fan of lobster. The texture is just weird to me. The only sushi I don’t like is sea urchin due to the texture. **FlyTrap** we be Whiskypalians. 😃 One of the biggest differences between us and the Baptists is we will speak to each other in the liquor sto’. Tonight’s beerverage of choice is Killian’s Red in memory of my friend Tommy. That was his favorite beerverage. ---

The carpet has been spot-cleaned. That means the spots that weren’t cleaned are going to look filthy by comparison, but I was in no mood to move all the furniture and do a proper carpet cleaning. That’ll happen in the fall when it’s cool enough to open the house. I’m all sweaty from the little bit that I just did. And once it dries, I’ll run the vacuum again - the shampooer seems to roust more cat hair than the vacuum. So, I’ve accomplished what I wanted to do today - yay! I can be a bum till exhaustion drives me to bed - early tonight, for sure. Meanwhile, wonder if I have the energy to walk \*allllllllll \*the way down the driveway to the mailbox - it’s got to be 100 feet!!! :eek: 😃 ---

**Nava** you don’t need the . after the ! unless you’re sayin’ “exclamantion point period and that means I don’t want to hear anything else!” I have actually heard people (not to name names but one of them gave birth to me) say that.
