Super-aggressive supercop ends up getting sent to a two-horse English town in the middle of nowhere. Until the gruesome murders start to pile up. Spoiler’d for Simon Pegg fans who haven’t gotten around to watching it yet… The murders aren’t being done by a cult, or because people are trying to get ahold of the property that will be suddenly valuable when the highway bypass gets built. People, like the florist who is always winning awards for the community’s landscaping, are being murdered to keep them from taking their talents to another town. It’s basically all about keeping the town’s quality-of-living rating nice and high. Kind of a “Pleasant Valley Sunday” idea taken to it’s hyper-extreme ends. -Joe ---

Even if you’re not wowed by the plot summary or never seen Simon Pegg (as was the case with me) the one-liners and character interactions are wonderful. Esp. Simon and the old lady at the hotel desk. For a few bucks and the prospect of staying in the public eye, I’m betting they could get Sarah P. to play the hotel clerk in the remake. ---
