Hey, I’m trying to remove programs from a friend’s computer and I can’t run “msconfig” like I can on any other windows I’ve used. How do I get into her system setting to stop all kinds of crazy crap from running during startup? Plain “config” just takes me to a music program.

Windows also looks in six other locations for files that should be launched at startup. Startup Cop helps you handle problems with programs that are automatically launched at startup by listing them and letting you disable, enable, or delete them. You can save the list of programs that are currently enabled or disabled as a profile that can be restored at a later time. Startup Cop was written by Neil J. msconfig is win98, not win95. If you search the archives you will find a number of threads where I have explained in detail where and how things get started.
