# Win2000 Question

Soookaaay.

I just got done installing Win2000 and I’m trying to set up some of the defaults. In explorer (the file manager) I always set the view to details. It works but every time I start a new manager it reverts back to the BIG Icons. I HATE BIG ICONS. But this seems to be the default and I can’t get View Details to stick.

Any Ideas? [Microsoft.com](http://Microsoft.com) has been no help.

Answered my own question. You have to change View properties at the root level (C:) to have it remain persistant

Actually, there is another way, which may be more generically useful:

1. In Windows Explorer, set your view options the way you like it.
2. Go to Tools \> Folder Options.
3. Click on the View tab.
4. Click on the “Like Current Folder” button.
5. Click on “Remember each folder’s view settings” in the box below it.
