My wife is a writer so knows this stuff, and you are only allowed a small number of loss years before your business gets either classed as a hobby or gets audited. She’s never lost money, so we don’t have actual experience, but the tax rules do mention losses.
One little gotcha about claiming a portion of your house as an office - when you sell, that portion is no longer covered by the homeowner exemption for capital gains, so you may wind up owing a bunch of money. My wife has an office here that would pass any test, but we don’t claim it for this very reason.
Just remember: No one wants to pull diapers out of a ball pit…
Ono buddy, I’ve been reluctant to post any sort of links to the NEW! and IMPROVED! Haneda airport, now with overseas flights, because you know it’ll just be a rabbit hole, you’ll start surfing, wanna come back, and start crying like a schoolgirl bc you miss it so much here.
So I’ll just mention: right now, it is mostly Asia-based flights, but when I was looking for a trip to CA last year, they had some direct flights that left Haneda at midnight, for example.
And…we’re supposed to get snow tonight in Tokyo.
OOoh, I thought of something! Right now Mr. Yen is 82 to the dollar. You can have 10 to 20 percent more fun if you wait for it to bounce back up a bit.
Yeah, you don’t really want to comeHANAMIto Japan ONSENanyway. It’s entirely*TASTYBEER!*over-rated.
Hence the need for one’s own ballpit. All the fun, none of the poop.
Er, I hope not, at least. Then again, as long as it’s private, he can do what he likes there!
