# Windows 7 patch for Fallout 3?

Someone told me there’s a patch for Windows 7 so that you can play Fallout 3 on it now. Is this true? I’d really like to play it.

Erm… I’ve been able to play FO3 on W7 no problem
What I _want_ is a patch to enable me to play Fallout New Vegas without NPC slowdown.
ETA: On second thoughts, my copy of FO3 might be a patched copy. Just google “Fallout 3 Patch”. Or wait for someone to reply who has the correct link. I can’t remember which patch (official/unoffical) mine is.

Perhaps you are thinking of the .dll that improves performance in Fallout New Vegas?

That would be great, I googled it and all I can find is people saying “oh noes Fallout 3 no work halp halp”

I had a problem in Win7 (haven’t tested recently). After installing, it would run fine unpatched, except that I can’t access my old saves as GFWL doesn’t detect the newest version. After updating, either automatically or by downloading a patch, it would CTD always after starting.

I didn’t even know this was a thing. I got a new machine with Windows 7 back around July and never had a problem running FO3 on it.
Okay, I had to tweak a config file to prevent crashes in some small areas, but it ran fine 99% of the time before that.

From what I remember, the problem only affected certain configurations. I can’t remember if it was how Win7 handles graphics for certain cards, or what.
