Windows 7 question

Actually evolving means not using IE at all.

To launch a new process of an application that’s “pinned” to the taskbar, centre-click using the middle mouse button or wheel if you have one. It doesn’t work for non-pinned apps, unfortunately, but I assume that something that you launch frequently is likely to be pinned.

Alternatively, you could use an external launcher; I use RocketDock, which is pretty, unobtrusive and launches a new IE window each time I click the icon. I don’t actually use IE very much, having mostly switched to FF and now trying out Chrome, but I just checked this and it works fine.

That’s funny if true, because the Chrome team came to the conclusion that it’s more robust and secure to use one process per tab. This way if one tab crashes/has malware/whatever, the other tabs don’t suffer the same effects.

I have no idea why that was in my system, but I’m glad I got it out of it.

I have my taskbar on the right side of my screen. Much better use of my real estate than on the bottom – it’s a widescreen format and my cat likes to sleep on my desk while I work. I mention orientation because it seems to behave differently than when on the bottom, and differently from XP.

When I have a ton of windows open – and I really like having lots of windows open and not combined on the taskbar – eventually I run out of vertical room. When this happened in XP, all the task buttons would simply collapse to half their size and squeeze in. Now, however, Windows is splitting them to two pages, hiding one page behind the other, meaning some items are no longer visible and now I have to click between the two.

Waaaaaaahhhhhh! I don’t wannna page between taskbars to find the instance I’m looking for. Any way to get the old behavior back?

And is there any way to turn off the pop-up thumbnail of taskbar items when I mouseover them?
