I use control panel to change the repeat key delay time to speed it up, and it keeps getting reset to the original, slow value. This happens not only if I shut down, but if I sleep. How do I make this permanent? ---

Found discussion of this issue at [Windows 7 Keyboard Repeat Rate and Delay are Reset on Resume from Standby / Sleep - Super User](http://superuser.com/questions/244960/windows-7-keyboard-repeat-rate-and-delay-are-reset-on-resume-from-standby-slee). It has apparently been an issue for a few Win versions. One guy running Win 8 suggested: "The selected answer by chris did not work on my Win 8 64 bit install. This line can be run from a batch file to reset the rate. mode con: rate=32 delay=1 I just run it from a shortcut." It might be useful to go to the link and read the discussion. I have Win 7 and no issue with the key repeat rate. ---
