I have a mini home network–2 computers, both WinXP, into a Linksys Router. When I take my laptop on the road and then come back, sometimes I can’t see the desktop any more. When I attempt to map a drive, I can see the desktop, but when I try to Explore it, I get: “You might not have permissions to use this network resource…” (etc.). My permissions haven’t changed. Sometimes at a hotel they change my network connection settings, but I think I’ve got them back where they’re supposed to be (Obtain an IP address automatically).

How can I troubleshoot this problem?

This has worked for me. Run
ipconfig release
and then
ipconfig renew
You can run these from a run window or from a command prompt.

Luck!

[/QUOTE]
ipconfig /release

ipconfig /renew
