# Windows XP: Lost pop-up tooltips

Hi there.

I seem to have lost my pop-up tooltips (text that appears when the pointer i sheld over things, for exampel the clock) with Windows XP Home.

I have tried resetting transitional effects in the display properties, but that hasn’t helped. I have tried deselecting and then selecting “Show pop-up description for …” in the Folder properties, but that also hasn’t helped.

Has anyone got an idea how I can get them back?

[This page](http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_t.htm) may help. Scroll down to tooltips and look over the information there about turning them off and see if that helps you restore them.
