# Winterizing asparagus

The beautiful ferns of my first-year asparagus plants have turned golden, some with red berries. But what do I do with them now, in preparation for winter?

Red berries indicate you have some females;many people pull them up as non-desirable.  
You can mow or cut the growth,weed well,and cover the patch with a good layer of stall muck or mulch.Or leave it be.I do the former.
