And, not to go all **Shot From Guns** on you, but if he’s done this before, it would seem to be time for you to just go ahead and create yourself a spam email account and tell him to start using that. I realize that this may feel like a capitulation more than an accommodation, but I feel that rolling up the car window when I drive is a capitulation to the rain. If it takes the sting out of it, just create a second spam email account just for him, and tell him that it’s what he’s getting from you for Christmas. Well, I guess that would be a little harsh. Tell him it’s a housewarming gift. 😃 P.S. Congratulations on your house. 🙂 ---

Why the fuck do you automatically append your signature to every email? We work for the same company. This is all internal shit. Neither I nor anyone else copied on these messages need to see your contact information, since anything we’d be likely to use is included in the header, and anything else we can look up. ---

Don’t the usual work email programs have an option to append a signature to every email? My guess is they have turned that on, and just don’t bother to turn it off. ---

And I’m saying it’s fucking stupid to leave that turned on and leave the signature in all the time, instead of (a) leaving it turned off and just manually hitting the button to insert it when you need it, as in the first email in a chain to someone external, or (b) turning it on but then deleting the redundant signature block when you’re emailing just internal folks or continuing an email chain that already includes the signature information. ---

While we’re at it on email: 1. The backgrounds just look childish. Come on, these are official emails. 2. Would it kill you to use a font that doesn’t look like you’re writing your email in crayon? 3. The confidentiality notice? My assistant is the only one in the office whose emails have it. Yeah, I could tell her to get rid of it, but I’m trying not to be too controlling. It only annoys me, but is harmless beyond that. Besides, it’s silly and pompous when the email server attaches it too. ---

At my company, at least, the damn thing is required, whether it’s internal or external. Now they’ve asked us to add links for our company’s Facebook page, LinkedIn, Twitter etc. with icons for each one. It’s gotten completely out of hand. ---

Speaking of emails; Dude, my work/professional email account exists entirely for the purpose of doing my job. I cannot use it for personal reasons. Yes, I sent you an email with my contact information (which is a sig line so I don’t have to type it, nothing more) because there was a chance your issue wasn’t 100% resolved. THIS DOESN’T FUCKING ENTITLE YOU TO EMAIL ME LINKEDIN INVITES AND OTHER PERSONAL SHIT. Sure, our professional interaction, all 45 minutes of it, was pleasant. I appreciate that. But it doesn’t make us best buds. Stop sending me shit before I have to create a filter rule. ---

Anybody who includes their standard contact info signature on an internal communication is just being lazy.
