Wired earbuds issue

I had no idea. I was taking the OP at their word that a return wasn’t possible.

Yeah, I wasn’t too familiar with Woot! myself, but Wolf333 brought back a dim memory of something I read about Woot/Amazon a while back. Still not sure what Woot actually is even now, but it seems that they take returns. Perhaps the OP bought a deal with no returns though.

In principle I would think so. But my experience with the cables in these sorts of earphones has been mixed. Often the conductors in the cables are made from very fine enamelled wire. The enamelling makes soldering impossible, and the fineness of the strands makes cleaning the enamel off very difficult. Everything is very fragile. Things like a solder pot can help, but most people won’t have one.

If it were me, I would give it a try. But I would hesitate to suggest the idea to others.

Interesting input(s).

My “solution” is to use an adapter that is available, one that links a male lightning to the female USB C jack on my phone. I’ve found out that his will allow the use of the earphones while being powered ( and thus amplified ). The only downside is that I can’t charge the phone while using the earphones, but I can live with that since I’d only be using them for 30 or 40 minutes at a time.

That is interesting. It says that the headphones are presenting a straightforward USB audio device.

I guess this may have been the simplest answer for designing a non-Apple headphone.

When used on an Apple device the host Lightning interface just sees USB and configures itself appropriately.

I just received an email from Amazon announcing a Woot deal for Yamaha wireless headphones. You can’t hide from the Google.
