Let me rephrase that then.

Would you rather a society where a government program helped them or the individual was left to starve?

I think they should be chopped up and fed to their family.

Building a whole system around trying to stop monopolies is like designing a police force to only stop serial killers.

Of course, but then many turned into Trusts, and no, there was no need for a special police force to stop them.

> In early 1902, however, Teddy Rossevelt took the offensive against powerful corporate trusts. He convinced Congress to create a Bureau of Corporations to regulate big business, then shocked the nation by bringing an anti-trust suit against J. P. Morgan’s Northern Securities Corporation. Morgan condemned the president, not just for what he had done, but for the ungentlemanly way in which he had done it – publicly and without warning. A new paradigm had been established in Washington, and Roosevelt would go on to file suit against more than 40 major corporations during his presidency.
>
> If Roosevelt’s trust-busting surprised big business, it was certainly consistent with the major influences on his life. Theodore Roosevelt grew up worshipping a father who preached the moral duty of helping the poor, and he worked to be like his father in every way he could. As a young man, TR experienced life as a rancher in North Dakota’s Badlands, where all the money in the world could not make a cow easier to rope or the summer sun less blazing, and years of honest work from sunup to sundown might still leave a person poor.
>
> He learned to value working class people, and he never forgot them. From the time he took office in 1901 to the time he left it in 1909, the cowboy president did much to help working Americans. He passed laws to ensure the safety of food and drugs sold in the American marketplace. He placed millions of acres of land under federal protection, preserving America’s natural resources. He regulated interstate commerce and helped laborers to get a fair shake at the negotiating table.
>
> Plutocrats deplored Roosevelt. Yet TR adamantly defended the right of big business to exist.

I am less concerned with the whys and wherefores of the stay at this point. The fact that a stay has been issued is good enough for me. I’ll leave speculation to others. I’ll just hold out hope that this will allow enough time for the recall process to complete its work and perhaps change the playing field for a reissue of this bill (read: that it never sees the light of day again.)

Ok. Forget that objection. How do you deal with corporations that wield more economic power than a good sized state?

How does your minimal government keep us safe from other countries whose large governments that take in more taxes and wield more power to regulate allow them more ability to compete?

How does your minimal government keep us safe from other countries whose large governments **(that take in more taxes and wield more power to regulate)** allow them more ability to compete?

Those complex sentences can be tricky.

Assuming Rand Rover isn’t a troll, which is a bit like assuming Paris Hilton is a virgin, it’s quite clear he wants a society where people in unfortunate times are allowed to starve.

A society stripped of the very opportunities for upward mobility via educational assistance, he claims got him the tax lawyer money.

What’s your evidence for either of these propositions?

It’s my general conception of you. I’ll tell you what, tell me I’m wrong.

Tell me you believe the unfortunate shouldn’t be allowed to starve. Nor left behind educationally. That there should be government programs to provide a fail-safe for this.

Or even just tell me part of that. If you nitpick “should” without a replacement classifier, then you’re confirming my statement.

It’s interesting that you’re so unable to think properly, that you think this makes a point.

Do you think cotton candy is a necessity? Do you really like it? Nom!
