Starts Friday Dec 17. I think there will be less time weirdness going on. Not sure what to do about spoilers. I for one will not binge the whole thing all at once but instead will spread it out some (though I do have vacation coming up…). Having everything spoiler tagged is a bit of a pain. I’ll go with majority opinion here – leaning towards open spoilers. At the very least indicate which episode you are talking about so folks who haven’t seen it yet can skip your post. Brian ---

I’d be okay with more time-weirdness - I liked the way it allowed them to flesh out the backstory over decades, while having the constancy of the (conveniently long-lived) protagonists. Also might mean we see Mouse-sack (sp) again. I liked him. Annoyingly I’ll probably have to avoid this thread until I’ve slowly watched season 2 with my wife. ---

I’ve read all the books, so I don’t really care about spoilers. I know the general direction the plot is going. I"m more about the journey than the destination anyway. ---

(episode 1) The voice of Nivellen sounded familiar, but I didn’t place it – good old Tormund (Kristofer Hivju) from GoT. The mages can’t find Yennifer – is the fact that she is wearing power dampening handcuffs part of the reason? Brian ---

There’s no time-weirdness, but there’s a very funny scene with Jaskier where a fan of his music critiques a song, and all the criticisms are obliquely about season one. This season seems to be moving more slowly, but my main gripe is one I’d never thought I’d have. Look, Yennefer is gorgeous. But last season what we saw of her was organic to the story and character, and this season seems more gratuitous. Some of that might be that she’s had less to do so far (i’m starting ep 5), but I’m hoping for fewer “why on earth is she wearing that?” moments. ---

Just finished episode two. Really enjoying this new season so far. is it just me or is the witch under the elven temple definitely the Ladies of the Woods from Witcher 3? I hated those bastards so so much, seriously one of the most terrifying villains I’d seen in any game, and I’d love to see them in the TV adaptation). ---

The dress in Ep4 (which I assume is what made you post this since you said you’re starting Ep5) was a VERY impractical dress. Falling off the shoulders and needing to be lifted to move – it was like wearing a sexy sleeping bag. Both my wife and I were “Why the hell would you wear that just for wandering around?” I assume “Yennifer wears a silly dress” isn’t enough of a spoiler to warrant tags 😃 ---

I’ve seen three of the new episodes and like the season more so far. The first season felt like prologue and now that Ciri and Geralt are together, it feels like the main story. ---

I thought so at first as well, but the hut that walks on Basilisk legs is kind of a dead giveaway that it’s the Witcher/Sapkowski version of Baba Yaga. But I’ve found articles that say the Crones are based on Baba Yaga anyway, so I guess it’s all related. Agree, the Crones were a complete nightmare in the game. The baby legs, brrr… ---

The Witcher video games are sequels to the show and books, right? I’ll spoiler post my understanding of the games based on Witcher 2 and 3, the only ones I played. Contains my spoiled-understanding of the books ending as well: Geralt died at the end of Witcher books? But the games reveal he didn’t die, but had his memory wiped. This mainly happened so they could make the games… By Witcher 3, he has enough memories to go look for Ciri, which he spends about 75% of the game doing. He re-meets Yen and Triss and so forth along the way. Witcher 3 seemed to be the long awaited “true ending” to the series. ---

I finished the season over the weekend and for me, the entire season seemed to be more about stage-setting for next season. We learn a bit more about the characters (aside from Geralt), but they don’t **do** much. ---

I had a similar experience, though it was more a general “That’s definitely the speech patterns of a Norwegian actor”. He looked strange without the big beard though. I also correctly identified his love interest as having a fain, Norwegian accent. ---

Howdy! I just popped in to say that I have contemplated the Witcher games but never played them, have not read the books, have not seen the movie (wasn’t there a movie?) and have not seen the show. But I did recently stumble across a video compilation of Henry Cavill repeatedly describing himself as a gamer and talking about what he plays and how he came to be part of the TV show, and his enthusiasm for the material was obvious in his ability to relate it well to many different people; he is outstanding as both an actor and ambassador for the IP. ---
