Therapist. Closest friends are good, but sometimes my innermost problems involve them, so it’s nice to have someone objective to share with. ---

My brothers or my wife would come first, depending on the issue. I also have a handful of male friends who would be willing to listen. I didn’t vote because wife and brotehrs don’t seem to be covered in the poll. ---

It really depends on the feelings, to be honest. I would pick the right person as a sounding board for what I share. My wife is the default for most problems, but if I wanted to vent about frustrations with our relationship, a fellow guy friend is probably a better audience (at least until I find a way to tell her without making her feel bad). My would not be the best people to tell about a deep dissatisfaction with my career. A therapist would be way at the bottom of the list for most problems. I’d have to identify something that I felt needed treatment and not just sharing, such as clinical depression. In fact, I’d probably have to say that if they can’t prescribe medication, I honestly don’t believe they’re of any more use than my family, friends, pastors, etc. ---

I share more on one anonymous forum than I do with anyone in real life. Mostly I keep stuff to myself but I do let out some stuff that’s related to the group topic. I’m not worried about any big reveal. It’s nothing more than whining and occasional ranting about stuff I have no control over. ---

I hate to admit it but unless it’s a therapist or anonymous outlet I always feel if I reveal too much to a friend or even and/or especially an intimate partner I feel that it could be used against me later in some way. ---
