Without looking it up, can you say what day of the week 9/11 happened on?

I remembered.

I remembered, although it was Wednesday by the time I found out - with the time difference it was (IIRC) about 11pm our time and I’d already gone to bed. My mother told me the following morning when I called her to discuss something else. Maybe that’s why I remember - we spent the evening watching the coverage with my parents and grandfather. Wednesday was always the day we had dinner with my parents and my grandfather.

I know it was a working day because the news started coming over the company intranet - IIRC it was early afternoon in England.

I remember a Becker episode where the confused old woman who had been bothering Becker all episode started getting serious and talked about a warm Tuesday in September.

Without that, I probably wouldn’t know.

I’m going to say Tuesday.

I believe it was a Tuesday.

I knew which day of the week it was as it was my one year anniversary of working with the FAA. We got an email saying a plane had hit the tower. Since that’s all it said I thought they were talking about a smaller, private plane. My first thought, jokingly, was, “who forgot to chart the towers on the chart?” It wasn’t until a few minutes later when they told us what happened.

I remembered what day.

I was pulling into the parking lot to drop my son off for preschool.
At first I thought it was for sure some kind of joke.
I took my son into the building and then decided I was taking him back home with me. I had to argue a bit with the teacher and administrator but I took him anyway.
By the time I got home all the schools in the county were closing.

I was correct, because I remembered watching TV after work for several nights afterward. I thought it may have been a Monday for that reason, and only due to half-remembering the trivia did I guess Tuesday.

Depends on what you mean by “heard the news”. I was checking out Wall Street’s opening bell on Yahoo! when there was no ticker, only an announcement that the opening bell would be delayed because a plane hit the WTC. I shrugged it off, thinking it was a general aviation mistake with only a few casualties. Then a couple minutes later I went to the bathroom and saw several people in the break room. When I got out of the bathroom I thought “hey, they’re probably watching TV about the crash,” so I joined them and found out the fuller details.

Yep, I knew right away. I don’t indulge in the annual recreational grief over it but I distinctly remember the day, just as I remember JFK and RFK being killed, the moon landing, Challenger, Columbia, etc.

Without looking…

It was a Tuesday.

I remember because I was up late the night before watching the Broncos winning over the Giants in the first regular-season game in Invesco.

Which brings up a question I never thought about before right now: How long did it take the Giants to get back to New Jersey, seeing as how they were supposed to play the Packers at home the following Sunday? Do NFL teams generally fly out the same night, even after a Sunday or Monday (or now Thursday) night game?

I remembered, not because I had life context clues (I was on vacation), but because it’s one of those random bits of info that gets stuck in the cracks of my brain.

Without looking, I thought it was Thursday. After looking, it turns out I was wrong.

Shodan

I’ll always remember because it was the second day of kindergarten for my daughter. Tuesday.

It was Tuesday.

I was right about the day of the week. I know exactly where I was when the first tower was hit and the second, and when the pentagon was hit. I know exactly where I was when the first tower fell.

Yes I remembered it correctly. I had no doubt.

Tuesday.
