Without looking it up, can you say what day of the week 9/11 happened on?

According to this article, the Giants landed in Newark at about 6 a.m. on the morning of September 11, before the attacks began, so it was a normal flight home for them.

It was a really beautiful, clear day. After the first plane hit, people were saying “how could the plane hit the tower on such a clear day?” Then the second plane hit…:frowning:

Until that second plane hit, everyone was just hoping it was just some horrible accident. The second plane hitting the other tower took all of that hope away.

Yep, that’s how I know. I remember clearly going to bed thinking that seeing Ed McCaffrey’s broken leg flopping around was the worst thing I was going to see on TV for a while. I was wrong.

Of course; I was booked to land at EWR on Wednesday.

That didn’t happen.

I knew. Also, it was on my one-year work anniversary at my ex-employer.

I was wrong. I guessed the same as Shodan.

I do remember what I was doing though: I was a junior in high school, and was leaving Algebra when a friend told me that the Pentagon had been hit. Skipped classes for the rest of the day, along with about 90% of the teachers and student body, to watch the news footage on the projection screen in the auditorium.

I’m in Wisconsin, but close to a major military mobilization base, so I seem to recall some fear (probably more like rumormongering) that our area may have been targeted.

Still remember what I was wearing too- black leggings and a hunter green grandpa cardigan.

Would you have flown? Even if you could have. Curious.

Ditto.

It was a Tuesday. I was in college, and in my Tuesday/Thursday class. Tuesdays were in the classroom, Thursdays were practicals. We were in class, and we turned on the classroom tv and sat together in a huddle with the prof trying to comfort each other.

Without reading further - I’m pretty sure it was a Tuesday. I heard a snippet of it when I was getting ready for an 8 AM college math class. Almost certain it was a tuesday morning.

I would have guessed Thursday. I heard about the first plane on Imus In The Morning as I pulled into the parking lot at work. I didn’t know what they meant by “plane” – like, a tiny private plane…?!

I stayed at my desk even though they were setting up TVs in conference rooms for folks to watch, because my brother worked near the WTC and I was waiting by the phone. I was very lucky that I heard from him before the phones got overloaded. I didn’t watch any of the coverage until years later.

My memory is correct.

I knew it was a Tuesday. Probably because back then, Tuesdays were the day I got to sleep in, which lead to me sleeping through most of the attack. I found out when I went to my 10 AM class and the professor made an announcement.

I seemed to remember with fair certainty, that it was the day of the week given / spoilered in the OP. It turns out that my memory was indeed correct.

I can, though of course a large percentage of people who say they can are wrong - often wildly, bizarrely wrong. In my case, though, it’s backed up by en email trail I read several times afterwards, so I’ve had the opportunity to have my memory refreshed; otherwise I might misremember it.

I heard it in an elevator in my apartment building. Well, I heard something about an airplane hitting the WTC. The full, horrific details I did not get until I got to work.

Were you able to see anything from your vantage? Did you feel the second plane hit? Or the towers collapsing? Did the dust cloud get as far as your location?

Tuesday. I was teaching MWF. Could have been Thursday but Tuesday seems right. I was sitting in my home office reading the bimmer board and a guy YELLED turn on your TV… It was a beautiful day :frowning: I still remember his name even though I have’nt been back to that board for years.

There is an easy way to remember if you were in the NY area at the time, and somewhat into politics - the NYC Mayoral Primary was scheduled for that day, and big elections in NY State are usually held on Tuesday. Indeed voting in the primary had already begun when the attack occurred, although apparently those votes were discarded when the primary was rescheduled.

Now, it seems NYC voting is moved to the next date when 9/11 falls on a Tuesday (which has happened twice so far, in 2007 and 2012),

Yes, I remembered correctly. I even remember being woken up around 630 in the morning with the news and initially sayijg “thats nice. let me sleep”

I was supposed to fly to Las Vegas and celebrate my birthday the weekend before with a friend who would have been flying from New Jersey or possibly New York. I had to cancel when I got a job that started September 8th. My then estranged but sharing living space boyfriend, (eventual ex husband) still took his “separate vacation” the following weekend camping on one of the gulf islands. I wasn’t actually sure he was coming back, and was more or less accepting, but he called to ask about something, and I told him his dad had a stroke.

Within a month, the father was living with us, I had to quit the extra job I had picked up, and life became a whole lot of crazy. The father in law moved into a nursing home in January, We married in July 2002, moved east and had our son in 2003, and separated in 2004. My father in law also died in 2003.

Indirectly I blame 9/11 for my marriage, (although the stroke really was what made us stay together for a while) but I did get the most incredible son out of the deal.

I can remember almost every single day of Sept 2001 in incredible detail.

Nope, I stink at that game. I do remember it was a weekday beacause I heard the initial reports of “airplane strikes NY tower” on the car radio on the way to work, then watched the TV coverage in a conference room.
