The worst syndication butcher job was the third episode where Johnny tells Herb that Jennifer is the result of an amazing sex change operation. They cut out that initial reveal but left the rest in. Confusing as hell to those who had never seen the episode before.

Amazon needs to fix its rating system. A bunch of one-star reviews from before the release based on conjecture and other stupid stuff.:dubious:

> Interesting. The short version I saw was just last month. Did you see it then, or the previous go-around?
>
> Yes it was two parts (one hour) when I watched it. The episode first half progressed normally, but the second half jumped from when Johnny starting to think up his plan immediately to him and Bailey presenting the photos and check in the bullpen. The entirety of the con was gone. My wife had never seen that episode, and I was eagerly waiting for the “good part”. And then, it was not there. It was weird. I think there were a lot of commercials to fill the missing time (we’d DVR’d it, so I didn’t get a commercial run time).

No, I watched it previously, but I’ve noticed in the past that Antenna TV will fill up an episode with lots of commercials for some inexplicable reason. You may have just had bad luck on that particular night, because I’ve seen both parts pretty much intact.

[Nowadays](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/555_(telephone_number)), only 555-0100 through 555-0199 are reserved for made-up numbers – the other 9900 possible numbers in the 555 exchanges are available for use. I can’t find exactly when this change was made – probably sometime around 1994.

A woman at a bar tell you this? 😉 I kid!

Wasn’t at the first Costco I tried near my work over lunch but they had maybe six of them at the Costco on the way home. So now I’m $58 poorer but one box set (and bootleg karma) richer.

I’ve wondered about that for years! Did Bailey get a daydream in the original episode? I’ve only ever seen the syndicated version but wondered if there would have been enough time to fit another daydream into the episode. What was her daydream about?

It wasn’t there in the 1981 original broadcast either, but apparently it _was_ filmed.

I have never seen it, but I heard it involves Bailey being POTUS or something.

Interesting science fiction series, set in some alternative universe where she wasn’t considered hotter than Loni Anderson.

Bailey’s my stock answer but, rewatching the series, it’s obvious to me that I’d have zero regrets no matter which lady fortune found me with.

For what it’s worth, this scene is mostly intact. They play some faux-Pink Floyd that sounds close enough to “Dogs” and don’t mention the group by name but Carlson asks about the dogs barking and he still asks Johnny to play “Pigs on the Wing” while holding a copy of Animals. Unless you’re a big Pink Floyd fan, you’d likely never notice the difference. Seemed to be an honest effort to preserve a great moment in the show despite blank refusal for the rights.

555-MCHO is intact as well. And “Hot Blooded”, of course.

When Jennifer and Johnny pretended to be married to fool an old boyfriend from her hometown, he sang that cool little diddy “You got the knife, I got the gun. Come on boy we’re gonna have a little fun.” Was that an original for the show?

The boyfriend was the great Hoyt Axton. [Jealous Man](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8agYpyXSOSQ)

He also sang “Della and the Dealer” in that episode.

Watched it last night and I agree: they did a good job restoring that scene. As I am a big PF fan, I could tell, but they did a close approximation, even as far as having similar dog barks. Much better than the butchery they did to the scene in the first DVD release.
