# WM3 opinions?

Has anyone heard of the [West Memphis Three](http://www.wm3.org)? I was wondering what is the opinions of those who have visited the site or read about them. There are two very good documentary movies about their case. So, did they do it?

I’ve been involved in this case for some time. I don’t think there is enough proof to support they did it.
I also do not think there is enough proof to support the claim that John Byers did this either. Although he does seem more of a suspect.
My major complaint in this case in the way the WMPD handled it. Lost evidence, bungled evidence, lack of interest in other subjects, ect.

I just finished reading[Mara Leveritt’s](http://maraleveritt.com/) [Devil’s Knot](http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0743417593/qid=1039537423/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_1/103-5787653-0859800?v=glance&s=books&n=507846) . I went into the extremely well documented book with probably an 80/20 split- 80% of me believed they were innocent, the other 20% thought perhaps they did it. I emerged 100% convinced of their innocence and 100% convinced that John Mark Byers has something major on some law enforcement official- the man is legal Teflon- nothing sticks. (One day he’ll turn up in the Mississippi, but til then…)
The WM3 made the mistake of being born whitetrash in a thoroughly ignorant part of the world. The judge and the prosecutors should have to run a gauntlet- the greatest villain of the book isn’t even the quack Dale Griffis but Judge Burnett, an arrogant Fundie who needs to be wrapped in wet leather and laid in the hot sun.
Incidentally, there have been threads about the WM3 before on the Straight Dope but they never went that far.

Burnett “knew” the WM3 were guilty before the trial was even over. That man has it out for those boys.
