I would think giving the benefit of the doubt would make more sense in this case than the more self-serving “I couldn’t let the boy die, now could I??” scenario. YMMV
Exactly this. I’m not sure how you’re not seeing that, Bullitt. It’s pretty clear to me. That said, as I said in my initial post, her body language is not directed at the child as if she’s trying to push him away, but, everything is happening so fast that it’s impossible for me to tell from the video whether that was her intention or not. One thing I do see is that she changes direction into the path of the car. This could very well just a bad split second decision as to the car’s path, or it could be that she had some thought of getting in the kids way but everything happened way too fast for her to shove or tackle him out of the way. I would not be able to say definitively one way or another seeing that video.
Oh, I see it now! I completely missed it, all those times watching the video. It would have helped if they highlighted her in the very beginning. But wow, what a sudden, instinctive reaction by her. No time to think, really – just react.
Thanks for pointing that out!
Yeah, when you watch the second run of the incident, in slo-mo, it’s pretty obvious to me that she was trying to get between the car and the boy.
