I never used to notice. I started noticing after, as a young woman, I flirted heavily with a guy at work, never noticing his big, honking wedding ring. I felt extremely stupid.

And just like that, wedding rings went from something I never noticed to something I notice.

I notice. I used to be a bartender and I picked that up… it’s almost a fun little game to see who is cheating, who isn’t, who sometimes comes in with a ring (and who doesn’t)! It also helps make conversation with the customers.

And I still have that habit.

I notice if a woman is wearing a sizable engagement rock. It’s informative about her socioeconomic status and perhaps priorities. To borrow a phrase from the girl one of my ex-boyfriends went on to be briefly engaged to: “It’s not worth doing for less than a full carat.” If it’s obviously more than a carat, I feel like I have learned something worth noting about her.

Just a band, though, honestly I don’t pay much attention to. I wear a wedding band (no major bling) but it is kind of unique and I’ll get compliments on it fairly often when I meet new people, so some people are noticing.

I (a woman) never check for or notice wedding rings (meaning a ring of a particular sort on the traditional finger). I guess it might have something to do with the fact that I was in a committed relationship (common law marriage) for 23 yrs and never wore one, nor did my “husband”, and I realize that the lack or presence of one means exactly DICK.

I currently wear 2 rings…one, a silver celtic band on my left thumb (a gift from my late DH and the mate of one I gave him…it was too big but I refused to let him replace or resize it) and a thin, plain silver band on my right ring finger. (a gift to myself). Both have special signifigance for me, but I don’t expect anyone else to know that. And I don’t expect to learn anything by examining other peoples’ rings.

Now, if some guy was wooing me and I happened to notice a plain gold band on the marriage finger (or a tan line where one usually was:D) I would likely make inquiries. :dubious:
