I like long hair on guys, as long as their hair isn’t thinning or receding- that just looks pathetic. Thinning or receding hair in general isn’t a turnoff for me, just long hair that is thinning or receding. Liking dogs, though, is an even more attractive trait to me than anything about a guy’s appearance could ever be. (But I’m happily married, and I’ll stay away from **Mr2U** , I promise) ---

I tend to prefer longer hair. Sure it can be done poorly, but so can anything. I’m one of those people that usually feels sad when I hear guys with long hair went ‘respectable.’ I’m 39. Here’s my husband, who wears kilts too. I never liked long hair on men but my ex-boyfriend had gorgeous thick hair and a very handsome face. I liked it long and he took excellent care of it. He’d pull it into a ponytail and this would accentuate his fine jawline but after we broke up he cut it in a chin-length bob and it was horrifying. I haven’t seen him in years, but the last I did, it was in that bob and I have to forgive myself for ever having sex with him. He looked like Prince Valiant! ---

On some guys, yes. The strongest reaction I’ve ever had to a complete stranger was one time walking through the library. In one of the chairs, with his back to me, was a guy with gorgeous long hair. I wanted SO badly to go run my hands through it. That was without ever seeing his face. 20 years later, I’m still kind of baffled by the strength of that reaction. ---

Nope, not at all. I don’t mind shaggy, I think that’s when a guy looks his most adorable…but actual long hair is so heavy metal nerdish. Eh, my tastes run either to shaggy indie grad studenty types in the sciences (almost exclusively) or investment banker/lawyer/doctor assholes. Neither really specialises in long heavy metal hair. ---

Just don’t dig the long hair on guys, but that’s mostly because of bad personal associations. Perhaps the right guy could tip me the other way. (Just turned 35) ---

Nope, to the point where it’s almost a prejudice. I’ll confess that the best purely-physical relationship of my life – so far – was with a long-haired guy (he was 38, I was 23), but I was with him _despite_ his hair. I’m 35, and the guy I’m currently dating shaves his head. 😃 ---

I’m 34 - I HATE, with a capital “H” long hair on men. Don’t like it one bit. My preference is for very short hair, particularly if the guy is thining a little at the crown and you can just see a bit of scalp showing through. It’s so vulnerable - I could just stroke it all day long. ---

I can’t imagine stating preference without knowing the particular guy. Wouldn’t choose to date or not date someone based solely on hair length. Some guys look really hot with long hair, some look terrible. Some look good either way, some wouldn’t look good regardless. I will say this-- I don’t like those SCA-style scraggly ponytails. If your hair just hangs down to the middle of your back, with your beard running all into it and those long, shaggy, curly hairs at the back of your neck all frizzed out, get a haircut. If you have frizzy hair in general, cut it. If you’re balding, you should probably just shave it all off and get over it. That said, some guys look incredibly hot with long hair. I’m 35, if that matters to the question. My boyfriend is in the process of growing out his hair right now, and I will say that the awkward phase of this process does make for some weird in-between hair styles that aren’t always my ideal look for him (lots of hat-wearing). But there is NO WAY I’d ever tell him how to wear his hair. Seems kind of controlling to me. ---

I like a man with shiny, well-kept long hair to look at, but hoo baby do I like a short-haired man. I know when the shift occurred and exactly why. I did my time in bar bands with the long-haired boys; my eldest son’s biological father and general waste of skin was a long haired (scraggly, unkempt) guy; then after I split with him I did a quick turnaround into men in uniform. Never dated another long-hair after that. Men who keep their hair short tend to be more tidy about other things in their life (in my experience). And hot DAMN do those (Canadian) Army boys stay in shape! (I’m fanning myself here.) My husband has short hair. Every crush I’ve had in the past 13 years has been a short-haired man except for Carl the mailman in Canmore, but my god he was an Adonis. Still is, from what I hear. **WhyNot** : Short, he definitely looks better with it short. And I’d lick him. ---
